Everything you should check on your vehicle before going to the ITV (Technical Vehicle Inspection)

The Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) is a compulsory inspection that all vehicles must undergo from time to time to ensure their safety and compliance with environmental regulations. To pass the ITV successfully, your vehicle must be in good working order and meet all the requirements established by the regulations.

 

Here is a list of the items you should check on your vehicle before going to the ITV:

 

• Documentation: Make sure you have all the necessary documentation for the ITV, including the Vehicle Technical Inspection Card (ITV), the Driving Licence and the Car Insurance.

 

• Tyres: Check the tyre pressure and that the tyres are not worn. By law, tyres should not have less than 1.6 millimetres of tread depth in the main grooves. At Safame Comercial we recommend changing them with 2 millimetres of tread depth.

 

• Lights: Check that all the vehicle's lights are working properly, including the position lights, dipped headlights, main beam, fog lights, reversing lights and indicators.

 

• Brakes: Check that the brakes are working properly and are not leaking.

 

• Suspension: Check that the suspension is not damaged and that it does not make unusual noises.

 

• Seat belts: Check that all seat belts are working properly and are in good condition.

 

• Other items: You should also check other elements of your vehicle, such as headlights, windscreen wipers, glass, mirrors, emissions and bodywork elements.
